I really like #1, the angle of the sun, the sparkles on the water and the warm green grass make me feel like I'm really there ... but if I was really there I think I'd be splashing around in the water! It looks wonderful.

Trialling a new lens, the Nikkor 18-105VR, I shot a series of photos from Yarranabbe Park, Rushcutters Bay, including a few of the old coat-hanger, the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Rushcutters Bay & Yarranabbe Park are east of the bridge, so I'm looking west over Garden Island Dockyard to the bridge:

One from the drive back yesterday. Kind of the standard shot, but it's hard to come up with anything original at these vista points. The car lights are over exposed too. Not sure how to avoid that.

BTW, the moon was huge and orange last night in SF. Amazing, but I don't have a telephoto lens so you'll just have to take my word for it.

A couple photos taken a couple years ago during the dismantling of the original Carquinez Bridge which carried traffic across the Carquinez Strait at the far northern end of San Francisco Bay (actually San Pablo Bay). The old cantilever span was open in 1927 and carried traffic from San Francisco and the East Bay toward Sacramento and beyond. In 1958 a similar cantilever bridge was open to carry eastbound traffic, while the 1927 span took over the westbound. In the early 2000's it was decided to be impractical to perform seismic upgrades to the original bridge, so a new westbound suspension span, called the Alfred Zampa Bridge was built and open in 2003. Dismantling of the 1927 span was completed in 2007.

Here's another bridge suspended in mid air! It's the Bristol Clifton suspension bridge at night shot with my TZ1. Not tweaked except for a little straightening. I was quite pleased with this considering I just rested the camera on a nearby wall & pressed the shutter. Shame the moon had just gone behind those clouds when I spotted the shot & it was too cold to wait around for it to re appear.
