I'm sure many will recognise this simple but significant bridge at Concorde near Boston where the first shot was fired for American Independance.

Here's a picture of a bridge in Rome, somewhere near the Saint Peter.

Help me out with a bit of the history on this. There were apparently rooms in this bridge, the windows everywhere. What else was this bridge used for. I've seen photos of this bridge for years but it never really clicked in until your photo as to what else was going on in there.

    Hey Fiz...

I don't know why they originally built the open spaces in the towers with windows, but today you can rent the spaces for parties, weddings, corporate events. There's also an exhibit in one of the towers that talks about the history of the bridge, but mostly from an engineering and political standpoint. I don't remember reading anything about the original purpose of the rooms. So, it's a mystery to me as well!

Here is a picture of the brand-new bridge which has been built in my home-town. It allows cyclers and pedestrians to cross the highway. Its rarely used, though because it is on the outskirts of the town, there's another bridge just a couple of hundred meters from this one, and it takes quite some time to get on top of the bridge. Though it's a beautiful bridge, it's really a waste of money.
