    1909 Train

    This train was manufactured in New York circa 1909 and shipped to California where it now resides in a museum. It was one of the "new" oil fired steam engines. Shot in sepia tone:

    Compound rails at bolts is not old-fashioned. In this connection the offset thermal expansion / contraction of the rail depending on time of year
