Gotta say, if I had a need for a P&S, this would be a top contender.

Minor annoyances like 36mm efl minimum, propietary battery, red-eye prone flash placement, and no viewfinder would surely be overcome by superior low-light image quality and minimal shutter lag.

Now, if they would use this technology to address these issues, and add IS, that would be a dream camera!

    Canon Lenses 135L f2.0, 50mm f1.8, 18-55mm kit
    Tamron 28-75 f2.8
    Sigma 70-300 f4 - 5.6 APO DG
Other 580EX flash, Expodisc, carbon fiber monopod

Ok, right, IS would make it a real dream camera. But itīs already a very very tempting one with those current features .

Just read this over at Steve's: "Fujifilm USA has told us that the FinePix F11 will not be sold in the U.S."

This would officially make Fuji the STUPIDEST COMPANY ON EARTH!!!

Wow- I've been debating between the SD500, Casio Z750, and Fuji F10 for a while. Sounds like the F11 would capture the best aspects of the Z750 and F10. Does anybody know if I can get this camera online somewhere? Why isn't Fuji going to import them? This would be almost as good as an SD500 with the Fuji's ISO settings.

I am a proud SD500 owner and I think that the F11 would be better...but if Fuji is stupid enough to not sell them in the US, than I will not buy one...why should I give my money to the stupid? It just encourages more stupidity...

SD500 is a solid camera but it is not nearly as flexible as the F10 which is of course in the states already. i wish fuji would reconsider releasing the F11 in the states as well but the true replacement for the F10 might not be too far off(probably jan/feb) anyways...

also, there is no reason to bash fuji as a company because they chose not to release the F11 in the states(i am guessing it is because the F10 is underperforming from a sales standpoint in the states but not overseas). keep in mind fuji, pretty much by itself, has advanced the compact camera market considerabley in the last year+. because of fujis technological advancements in high ISO shooting all the other camera manufacturers are having to follow suit - notice the new sony N1 has 800 ISO when all their other previous sony compact p/s cams have had 400 ISO max.

    N1 - no good competitor

The N1 wonīt be able to compete with the F11...8 MP on such a small sensor ! The 7 MP of my SD500 are already quastionable...but more ???? And then ISO800 ?? Cannot be without either a lot of noise or fokinī harsh noise noise reduction destroying all the details. The big touch screen lcd is quite a nice gimmick, but nothing more. Wonīt ever sell my SD500 for it...perhaps for the F11. I hope the F11 will be sold in Germany. Think so .

Touch screen interfaces are not gimmicks in themselves. They are gimmicks when Sony touts the whole touch up thing. But as a menu/button sort of interface, it's an excellent alternative and opens up the possibility of maximizing screen space at no expense.
