Does the FZ5 use 55mm lens?

    Hi all!

I'm VERY new with digital photography so bare with me if this question is redundent.

I just bought a FZ5 and wanted to buy a UV filter but don't know the size.

The sales clerks at Ritz were of no help when I brought in the adapter that came with the FZ5 and asked them which lens would fit.

I'm guessing the adapter will accept lens that are 55mm? Is that correct? If so, does that mean I can buy any lens that are 55mm and they will work with the FZ5 without any futher adapters?

A thousand thanks in advance for your help!

55mm and you should get a multi-coated UV filter

    Thanks!

Thanks for the info! I just placed an order for two filters, both at 55mm.

    Have a good day!

Important : Using Linear filters with Digital cameras is useless. no effect
    Use only Circular filters.

"How to select the correct Polarizing filter:
Many of today's cameras use semi-silvered mirrors or prisms to split the light entering the viewfinder in order to calculate exposure and focusing distance. Linear Polarizing filters can sometimes interact with these items to give unpredictable exposure or focusing. So we recommend that you choose a circular polarizing filter unless you have a manual focus camera which has no beam splitter."

    Tjalal,

Why do you keep spreading this misinformation?

You've been corrected in other threads here and elsewhere that the FZ series cameras (and probably all digital cameras) do not use beam splitting metering and, therefore, do not require circular polarizers.
