When studying German I always laughed at that one because "Rathouse" is basically council chambers or parliament building. I kid you not.

To be exact, it's a town hall or a city council, not a parliament of a country.

    Oak Alley

This is Oak Alley Plantation, in Vacherie, LA. The first picture is a view of the back of the mansion. The next shot is of the front with all of the 200+ year old oaks leading up to the mansion. It is really a beautiful place to visit and a nice place to stay if you are in the area. Taken on my last Vacation for 2008!

Thanks for the clarification Margus. Rathaus=Council chambers, ammendment filed away in memory.

In Australia our councils are a tier of our government system. Voting in council elections is compulsory for the populace in some states. So saying council here is the same as saying government. ie a council is full of politicians and public servants.

I like that avenue of oaks, looks like a cool and pleasant place to be.

Drum Tower, Xi'an China. For some reason it didn't make it here in the last 2 months. As seen at "18mm."

Not bad Raven. Do you have a tripod? I'd stretch the shutter speed out to blur all those people. Maybe tweak the WB a little.

Nah, a tripod won't fit in my pocket . So as usual I didn't have one , but I was set up on the steps of the bus we were riding in.

Yeah, there's a few things I could have done different, but I was in my formative years back in October (right...I still am). A longer shutter speed at the same aperture would have been nice, because I brought up the exposure later which created shadow noise. That would also have blurred the people more, though most were pretty stationary.

Yes, the WB is off a little. Oh well, I'll change it if I ever do anything serious with the shot.
