prospero, all i can say is WOW... greatest indoor i've seen to date. what settings in camera you applied for this? i think it's not only a result of PP.
I took three pictures with the 10-20 (at 10mm) by bracketing, all at f/8 and ISO200. The shutterspeeds were: 3s, 1/1.3s and 1/5s. I also created another file in Capture NX by lowering the exposure of the 1/5s exposure by two stops (giving the equavalent of a 1/20s exposure).
I took the three shots with the camera resting on a table in the church, so the shots were already well alligned. I then created the HDR in photomatix and tonemapped with a low strength and a low light smoothing. This was to make sure that as much detail as possible would be kept in the windows. Keeping the light smoothing on high would have caused the small windows to be blown out (since they are so much brighter than the surrounding wall).
Having the strength higher would have induced halos.
After that I did quite some processing with Capture NX. I applied curves on the whole scene except for the windows, raising the contrast of the interior (without getting rid of detail in the glass in lead windows). I used some control points to finetune the scene here and there.
Also, raising the contrast gave a huge boost to saturation, so I dropped that quite a bid.
A good thing was that the church was completely empty, so that I had no people walking around to spoil the HDR.

Hate to be a bug but would you mind posting smaller versions of the 3 pics that made up that incredible scene of the church interior? Id love to be able to examine them and compare to the final without your additional pp. Cant thank you enough for introducing me to HDR.

you might never imagine but this first building called Vinarium is a wine merchant centre where you can taste and buy local wine. located in Langenlois town of Lower Austria.
second bizzare creature is actually an open air stage next to Grafenegg castle near Krems town, Lower Austria.
third building you may never guess is a church standing next to the UN centre main building, Vienna.
