Help Please

I am an intermediate photographer. I would like a camer with 5mp or more and would like (if possible) to have good video quality. I need it to be good at shooting almost any situation. I also would like it to have almost no shutter lag. I would have chosen the Canon Digital Rebel XT however I am in college and on a budget. My spending limit is 280USD. I would like to get the most for my cash. Any suggestions would be most aprrieciated.

Why not take a very close look at the Canon S-2 IS. It is a digital camera that almost does everything very well.
