Just what I am thinking as well now. If there is no G6, then Canon must have something equivalent of an "upgraded Pro1" to compete with the new announcements from Samsung, Panasonic, and Fuji.
Yes, I know some of you might say that the Pro1 can still compete with them but in the mind of normal consumers, the Pro1 is pretty old. And typically, even though it may not be true, the thinking goes that newer = better. I think Pro1 is great.....the only thing I don't like is more than average purple fringing.
If canon announces a ~7MP pro-sumer camera with manual focus rings and decent ISO 400, it would be a great camera for me.
As far as I know that isn't happening either. I have not heard of a G6 or a Pro1 replacement. Mostly upgrades of the point-and-shoots and D-SLRs.
I guess we'll wait and see what happens when the time comes...
As for the DSLR's we're either looking at some upgrades to the 20D and/or 300D AND/OR that tweener camera that everybody's been buzzing about. I still don't see why Canon would want to upgrade the 20D though. What else is there to put in at that price point?
Thats strange. With all the prosumers coming out with Manual Zooms and Focus Rings, I was sure Canon would come up with either a G7 or a Pro2. Do you think maybe something along the lines of a prosumer might be announced later in the year (if not in August)? Well, I hope you get the S9000 from Fuji for review soon .
