FZ20: Using Manual Mode in dark place
I wonder why it's so hard to compose a shot in dark place with the FZ20? Eg. At night, as I turn on the flash and turn the knob on to M, I can hardly see anything in LCD monitor. When I put it to any other modes the LCD will be instantly brighter.
So I always have to compose in P-mode to make sure everything I want is in the frame then put back to Manual to adjust f-stop and shutter speed; etc.
Saying this, I should add that the final shots are fine, except that I can hardly see what I'm composing!!
Someone please tell me what's going on?

Panasonic calls that a feature. I do not understand how it can be called a Feature, but Panasonic refuses to fix it.
The point is, that is the way the camera works....The worse point on a otherwise great camera.

Thanks Genece.
"that is the way the camera works...." I already suspected as much. But this is not a feature on other cameras, is it?
It's a great value for money camera for 'normal' conditions but if you want to try something creative you will keep on pushing its limitations. Like trying to pan on a bright sunny day outdoors, for instant, but that's another story...
Apart from a few gripes, (for now) I am very happy to have an FZ20 as a learning tool for photography.

i share your pain.... but the upside is, you can take as many photos until you get it right.....
I normally do all my club shots in manual or shutter mode.

It really is that way on most cameras with a EVF.
One that does gain up is the K/M A2.
And the New FZ30 seems to gain up at least is says the LCD and EVF adds lightness in dark conditions. (Finally)
