Nice one Gintaras!
I wonder if the chair on that little electric boat rotates or vibrates?
The second shot is beautiful. Lovely (afternoon/sunset or morning/sunrise?) light over a good looking yacht!
Lukas, thanks! The D80 has been, is & will continue to be a lot of fun!
(Although all of the shots posted here were taken with the Fuji..., I'll have to get cracking and post a few of the boat shots I've taken with the D80 soon ).
cheers,

It's been a while, I've been too busy sailing to be shooting ...
Two eclectic sets SpecialK! Nice work.
Here are a few entrants to this year's Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, hopefully I'll secure a good shore position to shoot the start of the race on Boxing Day (26DEC08)!
Telcoinabox Merit, a Volvo 60 1997 built, though recently refitted, yacht:
(D80, 18-105VR at 105mm, shutter priority, 1/250sec, f/10, ISO200, matrix meter, VR on)
Brindabella (with the yellow sail cover), a Jutson 79 1993 built, refitted in 2007, yacht:
(D80, 18-105VR at 105mm, aperture priority, f/16, 1/80sec, ISO100, matrix meter, VR on)
(I may try getting some photos of some of the big names in the race like Wild Oats XI & Skandia, before the race....)
cheers,
Benjamin

A few shots from Sydney Harbour before and at the start of the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.
All photos taken with the D80+18-105VR and given some global tweaking in Nikon's PictureProject, e.g. minor straightening where required, low sharpening, some colour boosting (0-20%), low d-lighting, &/or some minor brightness adjustment especially enhancing the dark tones.
11:30am (1.5hrs before the start of the race):
View up the harbour to Steel Point on the left, Bradleys Head and the city in the centre/background and Chowder Head on the right. The start line was between Steel Point & Chowder Head. The orange sails to the right are race entrants showing their storm sails which is a condition of entry to start the race:
(18mm, 1/250sec, f/6.3, ISO100, matrix meter, VR on)
View down the harbour to the heads, Middle Head on the left, Manly left of centre background, North Head right of centre background, South Head on the right:
(18mm, 1/250sec, f/8, ISO100, matrix meter, VR on)
12:50pm (10mins before the start of the race):
Spectator craft taking up positions and some competitors going through their paces before taking up positions behind the start line: Black Jack in the middle, Skandia left background, Yendy2 right background,
(105mm, 1/125sec, f/11, ISO100, matrix meter, VR on)
Wild Oats XI (race favourite, about 100ft LOA), her main rival Skandia (about 80ft LOA) & Yendy2 (again ):
(70mm, 1/125sec, f/11, ISO100, matrix meter, VR on)
12:59:49.1pm (11secs before the start of the race):
(18mm, 1/100sec, f/11, ISO100, matrix meter, VR on)
13:00:28.8pm (~29secs after the start of the race ):
(18mm, 1/100sec, f/11, ISO100, matrix meter, VR on)
cheers,
Benjamin
