I am waiting for more micro 4/3 offerings before getting one.
The Olympus prototype shows promise, much smaller than the G1. The G1 isn't taking full advantage of m4/3, it is almost as big as the...

I tried all the non-SuperCCD ultra-zooms in store, and ended up getting the S100fs instead.
If you're going to take mostly outdoor pics in bright sunlight, then the 8100 is fine. Indoors, it's...

Ah, thx for pointing out my #s mixup.
Seems like a lot of different sizes; the XSi has yet another sensor size at 22.2 x 14.8mm.
Panasonic knows to outsource a part (Leica lens) when they can't do...

I'm also disappointed, especially when compared with the Nikon D90 with the same size sensor. The review had a heavily pp'ed RAW iso1600 shot from the G1, and it looked pretty good. Panasonic...

Just tried Paint Shop Pro's purple fringe removal tool. Pretty amazing!
If you're curious, get the 30 day trial and use your or any review site's pics.
Problem solved! It takes 2 clicks to run...

Nice! How did you catch the dragonfly in focus?

Got this at a local store:

Just barely fit, phew. Now looking at a bag that can take the laptop as...

Seems like all the premium superccd cams (excepting F20, F40) get pulled from factory schedules before they drop much in price.
F50 will probably disappear soon as well.
BTW, what bag do you...

Yah I've read about the S6k since it's introduction. I guess my purchasing decisions have been influenced by the timing of photo opportunities as much as the cameras themselves.
Regarding the PF,...

I splurged for the S100fs... ouch. $620 from buydig.
Guess I paid the extra $200 over the S6k for the new/updated features like dynamic range, image stabilization, and longer zoom.
Just couldn't...

I thought the Rebel XSi with 2 lenses from Newegg was a good deal, basic normal and telephoto lens package for ~$700.

Mostly scenery, when I go on trips. I'm not one to carry tripods around.
And trying to think of any unexpected situations where I'd want anything greater than base iso on 10x zoom....
it's a...

I meant specifically when you shoot at max or near-max on the long zoom, like 10x or greater.
I have a Fuji F31 for indoor purposes and 1-3x zoom.
I'm thinking of getting a 2nd camera to complement...

I'm considering a long-zoom non-SLR, and the top of the line is the Fuji S100fs, but the price really is SLR price, especially with the Olympus E4/520.
Those of you who have cameras with 10X+...

You can consider the F50 and set it on 6MP for similar results.

Check out the Fuji S100FS.
I am also considering a similar decision. Maybe go for a DSLR if you take a lot of museum pics that are dimly lit, where you'll be using ISO 800, 1600 a lot. That's...

Currently, I have a F31. I was considering getting the S100FS for the long zoom, but of course, the price makes one think thrice before buying.
What about the alternative of getting one of those...

Until the past few days, I haven't checked any reviews since getting my F31 back in Feb/March. What I saw, I the new Canon and even Sony!? T-series compacts are producing ISO400 and 800 shots that...

On the F31, you can adjust both A and S in Manual but its still missing manual focus :(

Cool thanks.
Vista supports PTP but the transfer wizard can't let you select pics and the naming scheme is pretty limited. PTP support is nice, as I can use other programs like Picasa.
1GB is...

no docks...
but, what I did with my old cameras that used 4 AAs, is just store an extra charged set in the camera bag. Since the s6000 is pretty big anyway, bags for it will have pouches for...

Not sure if the upload kept exif info but the shot of the map on the wall is ISO 3200! I think the nature of the scene, aging paper with lots of markings and writing, masked the ISO3200 shortcomings...
