    Megapixels

Don't be fooled by the "megapixel wars" - anything above 5 MPs will allow you to blow up a 11x14 print. Whilst more MPs allows more room to crop (w/o losing too much resolution) BUT 7 MPs is More...

    Canon

The Canon has 28mm lens which comes in very handy and is a tiny bit quicker taking pictures - .1 second or something like that. The Sony is very good as well but it doesn't have the trademark "Canon...

    Canon Color Maybe

I don't know if you can quantify the following in terms of $, but the 28mm lens is awfully useful as is the Optical Stabilization. Most importantly, it has the world-famous "Canon Color" which some...

    You made the choice already....

I think the Canon will suit your needs better as you will be taking a lot of landscapes pictures (where the 28mm lens will shine) and mainly well-lit pictures...in the future, you can pick up the F30...

    You're welcome!

Btw, the digital zoom on the A610/A620 ain't half bad. In a pinch, you should definitely be able to use it and if necessary, use neat-image to clean it up. I personally was very impressed with the...

    Stick With The A620

I would definitely stick with the A620 as its pictures are arguably sharper and clearer than the S2/S3 due to its larger sensor....save up and upgrade in 4-12 mths to a dSLR. That's a real upgrade...

    Canon A620 vs S2/S3

Your eyes may not be deceiving you. When the A610/A620 first came out, people compared pics with the S2 and many arrived at the same conclusion. The main difference (aside from the zoom of course) is...
  12. Fuji F20 !

If you are on a budget and you don't need all of the manual control of the Fuji F30, you can buy the F20 for ~$200 :D

    Hmmm.....tough choice

As you probably already know, there's no "perfect" ultra compact camera. You have to decide if you will be taking the majority of your pictures indoors or out. Outdoors, the FX01 really shines due to...

No need to be so Extreme...

I use Sandisk Ultra II 1 Gb SD Card for my FX8 - I believe the camera can't fully take advantage of cards that are 150x speed anyway. Minimum 1 Gb Card though if you are going to shoot video !
