My predictions for upcoming Nikon gear are:
D95 (Q2/10) - 14 MP 1080p AVCHD sensor from Sony similar to the Exmor HD sensor on the NEX5 and A33
70-300/VRII (Q2/10) - will get the underwhelming...

Sigma 24/1.8? <shudder> No thanks. Had it for the 4/3 mount. Not impressed. AF struggles in low light, unimpressive IQ, a little bulky, prone to flare, PF at large apertures.

I have also been waiting for an improvement over the Minolta 24/2.8, so when i heard the Zeiss 24/2 announcement, i was excited at the prospects. Unfortunately, looks like this lens is bigger than i...

Nice. My only "good" maternity pic was the first time i tried capturing my wife carrying our baby girl at 28 weeks. We tried it again a month later, but i don't think we got a single keeper from that...

I don't think this forum has enough critical mass to really thrive like the Canikon fora do. The same problem exists in other smaller fora like Olympus and Pentax. In fact, much of the volume over...

Not sure if this is what K1W1 used, but I use Timothy Armes' LR enfuse:

I find the Tamrons with built-in AF motors very slow to AF. I guess it doesn't matter that much for a macro lens, but I prefer the Tamrons without the built-in AF motor until they can come up with a...

True. And that's why I have the LX3 as well.
BTW, I know you use the SB speedlites with the LX3 at home, but if you want a pocket-sized flash that you can use on the LX3's hotshoe, try the Olympus...

Well no, it won't be a slow ass f/8 lens ;) but you will need to use a prime lens to get a combined lens + body size of a P&S. The m4/3 zooms are quite small... their 7-14 WA zoom (equiv to 14-28 on...

In fairness to the aforementioned loser, the LX-4 is speculated to be a game-changer. Rumour has it that it will be a micro 4/3 format camera like the upcoming Olympus m4/3 micro SLR styled after the...

That's hot man. Love your videos. Keep up the great work!

It's because the D40 had a slow mechanical shutter that couldn't go above a certain speed -- something like 1/90 of a second. It used electronic gating of the sensor to basically cut-off the signal...

You forgot about all the MX format stuff too ;)
But you gotta hand it to them... they were right about the 10-24 and the D5000

Please. Since when was lighting ever important to photography?

Nice pics, Reg! Nice model, too ;)
35/1.8 vs the 50/1.4G... anyone have both or have any opinions on one vs the other?
-
Yeah, makes you wonder how many of Nikon's lenses are designed / produced by Tamron, and how many of Tamron's lenses are designed by Nikon.
I know that Tamron designs and makes a lot of Sony's...

The part that I find interesting is how the Nikon 10-24 and the Tamron 10-24 are very similar under the hood. They have something like 80% of the lens elements and optical construction the same...

Didn't know everybody saw this already. I did a quick search and didn't find any previous postings on the subject...

This parody is absolutely hillarious!

My random prediction is that it will be the D65/D5000 or whatever the D60's replacement will be called. 12 MP, maybe crippled video, and Tilt/swivel LCD.
Also possible:
D400
85/1.4G
...

That's more like a 300% difference. Each stop is a doubling of DR. Granted, the way this stuff works is that you need a big difference to perceive a noticeable change, but 2 stops is actually a...

Overheard the other day:
1. Ashton Kutcher, Nikon Coolpix huckster, uploaded a risque video of him and Demi Moore directly to YouTube with the new Wi-Fi enabled Coolpix 8870. He and Nikon released...

Congrats raven! I knew you had it in you when I saw your fantastic "fountains" pic a while back.

FWIW, the Tamron 10-24 has not received overly positive comments from the first wave of users. If they are to be trusted, I would not consider the 10-24 as a very good option compared to the Sigma...

Drrooooollll... oh man, that sounds and looks so good. Drool.... Thanks a lot, Don. I gotta get something to eat now!
