IMO this LCD/card slot stuff makes them too universal and expensive- myself using CP510 with PictBridge (as modern cams have superb large and bright LCDs) or with PC/laptop (both have card readers...

Hi and welcome!
Which operating system are You using- in some oldie like Win98 then Your USB driver is on CD that came with camera and of course at Casio support site:

... about of such an electronic industry giant as Samsung is? When will their 10MP be on sale? Also interesting about rebranded lenses (have seen their 50-200 go on sale at 1/3 lower price than...

... is the improvement they tell You...
But as to my personal experience with ALL BRAND digicam FW updates plus my own recent checkout I can tell at least that for K100D ver. 1.02 IMPROVED the LL...

Happy camper so far (and I am picky about all details :D )- also kept my K100D for better low-light (but will sell it soon as K10D DOES DO a better detail with decent GLASS :) ).
I should remind...

... but for a long time dpreview was my favorite- but now too much "empty" posts (nonsense I must say  ). So I simply prefer to shoot with my cameras and input something if it is of some value...

My advice would be short- reviews are good (to some extent...) but I consider 3 rather easy steps for You:
1. Go to www.pbase.com and search for pics for both cameras- and do pixel-peeping if You...

IMO the DA double kit (18-55 and 50-200) is a very nice starting point (do not forget about 18-55 superb macro capabilities (1:3,x and 24?cm range maybe) and 50-200 outstanding sharpness for its...

DA 50-200 is a superb choice- You will love it at it's focal lengths... but birding is IMO another lifestyle- there You will definitely hit LBA with *marked lenses- no workaround here...
Best and...

... and love it - and nothing more to say- a CAMERA I was expecting- and got :-)
Best and happy shooting (and creativity of course), JR

... and on Your review of Sigma 24-135 :-)
Yeah I know it is a cheapo lens so I chose it for my bad weather (and such weather is common here :-( ) walk-around one (was more spectacular during the...
-
Thanks for reviewing... Although this Sigma is nothing very special (own one) it is of great use as a general walkaround use (and nice add-on to weather-sealed K10D due to low price and...
-
I would encourage You to choose DA 50-200 (4-5.6)- best bang of the buck, believe it or not...
Best and happy shooting, JR

... but under no circumstances I personally WILL NOT JUDGE any cam with such "ready to web" images :-( BTW been with Pentax since early 80-ies and joined "digital era" with K100D- and nothing to...

... @200 mm. But with different cameras- Tamron was on EOS 350D. What can I say:
1. DA was far superior on every 1/f- sharpness, exposure etc.- plus a very handy QuickShift feature (like USMs have)...
-
... but what makes such a difference? Yes all zooms are worse than primes of course but honestly I can see no SO GREAT difference that You must drop the zoom lenses finally! How do You judge the...

No sign of these on Samsung dSLR promo page- even final release is not confirmed :D But I will get Pentax K10D in any case- my trust is reliable and I KNOW I will not be disappointed... pre-order...

To Colin T:
sometimes it is advisable to read the manual. As You state that Your cam is not recognized as USB2 device then check under the Set-up menu the item Transfer Mode. It has 3 options: PC-...

Why? Very simple as You stated- compact and I personally am not a studio guy- and IMHO 540 would not help either- and I can always find a white napkin to make the flash "swivel" to my desired...
-
I do not like some attacks without cause
You state the download times: please be polite and do some calculations- my nobrand 2GB card shows download from Pentax K100D as 5.7 MB/s- so Your...
-
...that someone at this forum is really caring about some other brand... The strange thing is that Samsung has (at least) redesigned the rear of the camera versus K10D- but still they are...
-
As I noticed of Your test image it was Casio S500 (detecting error maybe...)- but I can share Your hesitations: I use my Casio Z750 always as a companion for my other gear (dSLR ones I mean)- and...
-
Why? Simply I trust Pentax from the film days- and not only- have had their compacts from Optio S. And now using K100D and very-very happy: as You say the best bang etc... And in all of my trust...

Honestly I do not see any idea of using bundled software under XP- it lets You to customize the actions taken on every media /content type- start using XP at its full strength... :-)
Best, JR
