i have a TZ1, and one of the reasons i bought it was great video, but i have a problem whereby playing back the video on my computer the video picture freezes after about 5 seconds...

bought an NV3 for the G/F.

both she and I are very pleased with what it can do.

does the slim-line 3x Zoom version really have 720x480 video?

i ask because it sounds like a great feature, but while the blurb says 720 the spec sheet says 640......................?

someone on the dpreview forum said that the FZ7 would not allow zooming in video mode, but i can find no reference to this, anybody here know?

one question: can you use the zoom when in video mode?

it won't, but the FX9 will be out this month in the US.

fair enough, i only have a 16MB card atm so i haven't played with the video mode yet.

and while Fuji's have always been considered to have excellent video modes i would not buy a camera with less...

all i can say is that i was looking at much the same list, and ended up choosing the FX8. :)

there was a french site that did a 10 way shoot-out with compact digicams, and the FX8 was declared the winner.

i have the FX8 and am delighted with it.

however, i would recommend the FX9 which is due out in august.

6MP and 207k pixel lcd as compared to 5MP and 107k pixel LCD.

of course, the ultimate...

looks like ny FX8 is outdated already, lol.

a slight lack of sharpness is nothing set against the benefits of OIS for my shakey hands.

besides which, i'm no photographer, i just want something easy and widely capable.

this sounds ideal....
