When using the Fz only in the area 1...4 the G6 wins.

Natural, standard and vivid.
I always use natural or standard.
Never vivid....

Never noticed that on my fz3...

It looks like oversharpened or overcompressed...???
Are you sure the menu is in quality priority?

Is it only with far distance?

Do a few tests.
Shoot at 420...

The Fz3 takes sharp pictures at 420 mm.

If you don't use digital zoom.
If focus is ok.
Not to mutch movement by handshake or target.
When taken on 80-100 ISO.
With ISO 200 there is some noise....

What was the camera-subject distance?

Use a small Fuji point & shoot.
Minimum ISO = 200.

In sunny outdoor-shots the out-of-cam pictures are nice, no need for postprocessing.
In low-light (indoors and outdoors-dark weather)...

Takes away meny doubts.Pitty about the noise, but think the cam is worth his price.
Need a cam for outside/day photography.
Can the fz20 stay than in iso 80-100?
