That's are dust particles, reflected by the flash.
Compact cameras with the flash close to the lens will have much more dust particles caught by the flash... in that situation on small compact...

Nice shots, but just one advice - never, never point your camera direct into the sun! You will destroy the sensor (better to say - you will burn it!).
Try this with the sun more to the left or...

Super CCD is much larger sensor than normal CCD senzor (1/1.7, 1/1.6 versus 1/2.5 or 1/2.35 in s8000fd) so it requires much larger and heavier lens and body. You simply cannot put 15x or 18x zoom...
