I really hope your joking...Those are ridiculous prices and I'd hope nobody would buy those two cameras even if the D50s are brand new. Those lenses are really cheap. I sold my D50 used with 8000...

I'll have to do that test on my D300 once I get the free time to do it. Too bad they don't have something like those instructions for the D300 AF Fine Tuning function
-
I shot with the 70-200 f/2.8 VR like a week ago on the D3 and it was incredible. Of course I didn't have the advantage of the crop factor, but nothing beats the huge viewfinder that the D3 has...
-
also what I haven't read so far is to do this with your camera body upside down with the sensor facing the ground. Never do it with the sensor facing up...why? Because it will never leave your...

Visual Reality, they aren't saved unless you click save image instead of just clicking "Done" in ACR. All the settings you do on RAW is carried over via XMP file.
As mention about, just shoot...

The HDR shots aren't that great. What HDR conversion software do you use? Desaturate them alot. They both look like you put the saturation slider on +100 in Photoshop. I think that might be all...

Say goodbye to sharpness at 300mm. I'd get the Nikkor if I were you and wait a little bit to save up an extra 400$ to buy it.
-
I know my 18-55 non Vr when I had it was pretty darn sharp, so I wouldn't think Nikon would degrade the quality of the lens. I have the 17-55 but way out of your budget. I've heard many good things...

Buy glass and make sure its no DX lenses. More than likely Nikon will be putting out a D300 full-frame like Canon did with the 5D. And DX lenses crop to only 5-6mp on FX for Nikon. I know it sucks...
-
that really does suck, because if it wasn't your lens it could have been your mount. I know the D40 isn't that strong of a camera cause its mostly plastic.
Just remember if you ever fall with...

I agree with erichlund that you should not put cheap lenses on an expensive camera. Cheap glass will lower your image quality so why bother? I'd save up anothe $6-700 to buy the 24-70 that just...

The Olympus sensor is I've heard not as good as Nikon's sensors. Especially with a 2x crop factor meaning smaller sensor, more possibility of noise at lower ISOs, and for shooting kids you want that...
-
He should have gotten it with Capture NX, I did and scrapped it because it doesn't run very well on my laptop unlike Adobe Camera Raw and Bridge.
-
It isn't that important to have a Nikon flash product, but that R1 set Rooz has is real slick. You can do your with with an off camera sb600 or sb800 as well which will run you either 179$ (SB600)...
-
I haven't read or heard of any word about nikon updating their prime lenses... The 17-55 isn't that big to carry around, but not as small and light as the 50mm f/1.8. If I were you I'd just buy...

Depending on how much you will be shooting, I'd go with a 2gb San Disk Extreme IV or even a 1gb San Disk Extreme IV or III. I personally try not to buy cards that will hold more than 100 RAW images,...
-
I'm speaking only digital. For your sensor since it is a 1.5x crop factor your 200mm acts like a 300mm so you should really be shooting 1/600 or faster but with VR you can get 3 stops slower of a...
-
Remember to keep those shutter speeds at double the focal length at long focal lengths such as 200mm to reduce the chance of camera shake while hand holding the lens.
Images look great and that...

i wish my cable release for my D300 was only 13-20$. Once you get the release post some pics of long exposures.
-
There should be ONE thread where everyone who buy s a D300 can post about thier new purchase. Like that "Picture of the Day" thread but instead having it be named "Nikon Purchase of the Day" lol.

Composites are fine just as long as they are mentioned that they are a composite.
And to the question posed by fotogmarc about maccaroni, it is both ;-)

maybe he is planning on buying the D300 and wants to test it out before he buys it? Though a D3 would be wonderful to rent especially with the quality of high iso images.
-
you have way to many lenses IMO, i don't even know why you need these two lenses unless you're collecting lenses?
I don't know too much on Sigma so I can't really help you on them.
-
Thats an excellent kit. I'd say put the D300 on the lens you'll use the most so most of your pictures will be 12.1 mp. Though I don't know why you'd want to have 3 lenses instead of just the 2...
