    snug?

Have you gotten the case yet? i can't wait and am ordering one anyway :)
looks like its almost perfect for what i want. a thin rubbery thing i think would be better but this will do nicely.

    broken display

During my initial love affair with the camera, I recommended it to just about everyone who would listen. 3 really good friends bought the sd200. Just the other day, 2 of those friends told me...

    screen scratch

That's the part I'm most worried about too.
Since I do throw it in the pocket everyday, maybe just a screen protector will do the trick?
I still think a molded rubber or plastic contraption would...

    manual mode.

before you get an s70, it is also easy to either

    A. leave the sd200/300 in indoor and turn the flash off.

    b. set the sd200/300 to "manual" leave the flash off, set the iso to 400 and bump up...
  5. s5i can't even compete with sd200

The s5i has noisy images. They sadly dont look as good as the sd200 with its 3.2mp. canon simply has the optio s line beat. not too mention how much faster the sd200/300 is, how much better the video...

That makes no sense. they both have 3x zoom.

    optio line is not good.

I've been a canon user for years, but finally made the switch to the optio s when it was first released. I had to sell it on ebay within 2 weeks since its 3mp images were horrible compared to the 2mp...

extreme III not much more than ultra II

    Isn't the 1gb extreme III about $105??
and the ultra II 1gb can be had for about $95?

To be honest, in most consumer point and shoots, the new 1gb standard from sandisk is faster than fast enough...

some tips for non-flash indoor shots.

The new indoor shooting mode on the sd200/300 is great. it will adjust exposure and iso settings before relying on the flash. you can also turn the flash off completely in this mode.

    you can also...

    good question.

That is a good question actually.

in the manual it only states that "prevents camera shake and maintains the subjects true color when shooting under florescent or tungsten lighting. the exposure...

    those clicks are normal.

I'm pretty sure every digital elph (s100/s110/s200/s230/s400/s500) i've ever owned or operated has made that sounds. its a pretty loud click (relative to the other sounds). perfectly normal. it also...

mmc is more or less dead.

SD cards are faster and cheaper than MMC cards are now. its kind of hard to even find mmc cards now really. the sd200/300 manual has a funny warning about not using mmc cards even though they will...

    opinionated.

I'm probably not the best source of info on this. I've been shooting digital elphs for so many years now, that i've probably learned to live with most of their shortfalls. with that said....

    i agree with that /\

the sd200 is so much better for the type of person you are shopping for.
the s410 had its time. its clunkiness is readily apparent when carrying in your pockets. the thickness of the s410 is really...

    iskin for ipod.

are you familiar with the iskin line for the ipod? its a thin molded rubber sleeve that slips over. i wish there was something similar for the sd200/300.
the canon case was nice for my s400 but...

    can't go wrong.

either the sd200 or sd300 will be fine for you. better than fine. the best combination of smallness and image quality and features and reliability.
the extra resolution of the sd300 is quite useless...

office depot 256mb sd card for $34.95

throw the 16mb sd card in the trash. canon should just not ship with any memory and give you $1 or $2 off the price. its such a waste. how many 16mb sd cards have to die?? please, spare them....

    gah!!!

GAH!! i wish I saw this thread before I sprang for the ultra II 1gb card. I too did the same research about sd card speed for the sd200/300. The "regular" sandisk 1gb is about $65 us now and I got...
  19. limitless video with right sd card

Well, I'll disagree with both of these statements. You're only limited on video length if you have an older slower SD card. even the basic sd card from sandisk is fast enough. the ultra II and...

    sd200 over s400

I too have done quite a bit of research about the sd200/300. I've previously owned the s100,s200 and s400 at one point in time over the last few years. As you can tell I've always been a canon fan. I...
