I think the focussing screen can be bought at some good camera shops, i remember, my friend buying and replacing before... And it should not cost too much for the screen (if i'm not wrong).
-
lol.. sorry to hear about the scratched screen... there probably was no need to take the whole thing out... I had the same problem, and used a brush to give it a swipe, and that was it..

I think the sigma 17-70 is IF though. The front does not rotate as it focuses. And think i read that it is Internal focus. IF = AF-S?

Coldrain, thanks for the pointers on the metering.
Been trying to learn how to meter consistently, and been trying to get away from matrix, so that I know exactly how my shots will turn out. As...
-
Rooz, just to bring home the point, even though you see in the viewfinder a dark scene after pressing the DOF button at f/22, it'll still turn out to be properly exposed, since the shutter speed will...

rooz, try the following,

never used the VR before, but its generally claimed that it'll give u 2-4 stops..
meaning, if i hand held and shoot a pic at 1/300s for the sigma (at 300mm) to get a good shot (no camera shake...

No way!!!
how close was it and how much did you crop???
awesome!!!
-
yup, that's right...
so for the 18-135, you'll get about 7x zoom..
But (correct me here if i'm wrong), you won't get like 7x magnification for everything you see, since this is based on the 18...
