Wow, so sorry to see DCR go. Been here for many many years and the wealth of knowledge obtained from you guys is immense.
I'll try get some pics up from my recent vacation as a last hoo-ha to DCR....
-
That's a stunner of a shot
-
Thanks Anthony.
It's the 2003 collectors edition. As far as I understand, only 1000 were available in the USA
-
I've got the opportunity to buy #1 of 10 000 Ferrari Edition Olympus camera mint in box for less than a tenner. Was just wondering if it would be worth something one day and would it be worth buying....
-
Low tide is the only time you can get close to the waves at Swakopmund. That and I might be just a little insane
-
Braving sub freezing temperatures at 4 a.m. to get the shot, worth it me thinks

Turo, that's a great shot!
D70, I like that pano, looks like something out of Fear and Loathing. Minus the copious amounts of drugs
This weekend, I've decided that photographers are mental....
-
Spent a little more time than usual on this one. Think it came out okay

Who ever said you kit lenses are rubbish? That's a cracker of a shot!
Mind sharing your PP technique on that one with us?
-
Shooting cars is fun, shooting models is difficult

Wow, that's a ridiculously awesome shot DPR
-
You said it Rooz. I took delivery of my Cambridge Topaz CD10, KEF IQ5's and IQ3's last week. So much for buying any new photography equipment for quite some time
-
Is it worth spending almost triple on the 70-200 2.8 over this older lens?
Sharpness, IQ, CA?
Any thoughts would be appreciated
-
Yeah, I'm VERY lazy.
Seriously though, I shoot with flash 90% of the time, so it's not really feasible for me
-
Hmmmm, didn't know that. I'm way too lazy to set up auto ISO anyway.
Here's a shot from the same fashion shoot of the previous image
...
-
I must have turned the knob one click too far, should have been iso200, the D700's lowest native ISO
-
Thanks Diamond. It's a little too warm for my tastes, but guessing work is pretty difficult if your monitor is uncalibrated. Guess it's time to invest in a colour checker
-
Sadly, when viewing this picture on my laptop, it seems my monitor at home is a bit off. The white balance on this is way wrong.
Oh well, I still like the shot

That's pretty sad that you're leaving Kiwi, your contributions to this forum have always been more than welcome.
As for the lens, if it's reasonably sharp, I have a use for it. I HATE lugging...
-
Lighter packing for easier travel I suppose. The 24-70 is a beast to carry around
That and having more gear = bigger e-penis
-
Within a few miles I've got, well, f*ck all. No wonder I rarely use my camera for my own pleasure anymore
-
Anyone have any experience with this lens?
I stumbled upon a great deal for one while looking for grads. The kit includes the lens(the latest version in great nick) a P series filter holder, 52mm...
-
Yeah, all is insured thankfully, but the monthly premiums are killing me :D
-
Price? Once you use it, price becomes secondary, love it to bits.
That being said, I still use my 50 1.8D more, I'm just crazy like that
