I like some of the old Minolta AF lenses. I still have few of them. I wish Sony will update the Minolta 70-210 f/4. Such a nice lens.

My 40D less than a year had a shutter failure. Had it replaced. My old 20D keeps going and going ang going without shutter problem til date.

I was thinking the same thing. :)
Good write up Benji. It's great to know how a shoot is being done.

Mecablitz 58 AF-1 for canon will work just like 580EX. On camera, it can trigger the 430EX. You can try it in shops Faisal. I saw some stocks in Perfecta or if Grand Store will let you try one,...
-
I suggest backup batteries as well.
-
that is happening also to the 35-70 f/4 of my friend. don't know if this is common to the 35-70 of minolta.

Try used nikon speedlights; SB-24, SB-25, SB-26 & SB-28. They are very easy to used in manual mode and they have pc sync port. I got one SB-28 used for 100USD. I have 5 flash guns...

don't bet on it faisal. :p
from my experience with them, it will be a rip off and it will take ages before you can get it after repair.

I suggest when you are done shooting with your preferred aperture, try the smaller apperture up to f/22. You can judge for yourself whether there is noticeable loss of conceived sharpness...

you'll get used to that noise. better bring flash light if you plan to use this in low light :)

Amazing Faisal, most of the guys I know here in Dubai are better in bargaining than me. :)
I believe they have (store) warranty.

Some of my friends got it for 1400 AED, some 1490 AED in Bur Dubai, Perfecta and other shops. It is a bit pricey in City Centre.
The Metz flash I've mentioned above has the E-TTL capabilities of...

As far as I remember Metz 58-AF for Canon is around 1435 dirhams in Grand Store. If you can find one in Bur Dubai, it might be a lot cheaper. Please note that most stores on shopping centres sell...

IMO those phottix triggers are pain to use. Good luck with them.
Regarding ST-E2, they are almost the same price as another flash. Suggest you get another flash that can act as a firing...

Yeah, that's what turned me off also about cybersyncs. I was about to order when they gave me the quotation with the surcharge 25USD on top of shipping cost.
So I decided to wait for the latest...

#3 & #4 are my favourites.

with the CTR-301 i shot at 1/250 with no problem.
faster than that, blackening of some portion appeared.
-
well i've got the CTR-301 versions and so far have been impressed with them. there are no pc sync terminals so the only way to use them is to mount the flash directly into them which is a downside...
-
which hongkong triggers are you using Nick? I heard the new one (CTR-301) are better.

That 18-50 OS, I wonder why they did not do that f/2.8 all throughout. That could have been a great alternative to the 17-55 f/2.8s.

I wonder if you still need to sell your Sigma 30 1.4. It seems to be a lens made for you.
