Here is a quick picture of my backyard. No claims to greatness with this photo, just showing everyone what they are missing. With one quick move to upstate NY all this and more could be yours:D. ...

See thats the problem, nobody wants to just answer the op's question . He said he was interested in the 17-70mm and the 17-85mm. Not the 17-70mm, 17-85mm AND the 200-500mm 2.8... ;)
...

Yeah the 17-85mm suffers from a lot of apples to oranges comparison and pixel peeping. It's MSRP doesn't help it any either. But in the $300-350 it is hard to beat, especially when you factor in it...

I like the first one the best. That is a lot of Ice too. I was in Manchester when the big ice storm hit New England and it was nothing like that. Stay warm!

I use the Sigma my wife uses the Canon. They are both good lenses and really aren't that different. Both lenses are good enough for excellent photographs, and we have printed 16x20's with both that...

Excellent pics. I like the group shot the best. Maybe it is just my north west pride, but I love these types of shots. Lots of energy with people who think they can make it big.

I use Alien bees, so I don't have any experience with the two lights being discussed here, but let me see if I can help.
The big advantage of going for the monolight is going to be power and...

For me it is pretty simple. If I like the picture, but there are already a few people who hae said it is a good picture, I'll leave it be unless I want to ask a question about it. If I like the...

Another question would be how often are you planning on using 2.8? I do a bit of studio work myself and rarely if ever shoot wide open. My monolights give me plent of power though, what light...

I doubt anyone remembers me when I first joined, as I was probably the newb who drove you all nuts :). I've been hanging out at DPR for the past couple years, but have grown tired of the super high...

I also recommend only using the center focus point. Using all 9 points will lead to a lot or random focus points, mainly the background or the bottom point picking up the ground in front of your...

I would not recommend mailing it in to Canon. They aren't going to quote you anything over the phone, and when they get it will probably give you the option between a $90 fix or the return shipping...

And dogs would be dogs if there weren't doing something they weren't supposed to. Plus a picture of my wife at sunset using the flash which turned out really good I think. (it lost some quality in...

Hi everyone. I just got a A630 on a sale on Black Friday as my new point and shoot. I've been testing in out and have been very happy with it so far. The reason I bought this is because I'm in...

You don't ever fear comming home to a crushed cat under a sleeping dog do you?;)

If you have a budget of $700 I wouldn't recommend buying a $700 camera. A camera by itself is good, but there are lots of small things which will help you get much better pictures. A book on...

I was in your shoe's a month ago when I ended up buying a Canon Digital Rebel XT. It is a great camera and I couldn't be more happy with it. I ended up choosing Canon over Nikon and others because...

Here are our 3 dogs. Princess, an American Foxhound. Potipher, is a Golden/yellow lab mix. And Mr. Anderson is our Boston Terrier.

Yes of course, I was merely saying that you couldn't screw of the filter and then expect it to preform like a normal lens with normal focal lengths.

I bought some macro screw-on filters and they work just fine, but they completely mess up the normal focusing of the camera. It would not be something you just just screw on and leave there, then...

Sometimes consumer reports is hit and miss with consumer electronics. I noticed this when shopping for a camcorder. I'm sure in true CR style they tested them by giving a variety of people cameras...

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll try the layering method sometime this week and see how it works. Yeah, if the wind had been blowing it would of been cool, but oh well, maybe next time.

A month or so ago I bought my Panasonic NV-GS300 camcorder from them, but they sell dslr cameras also so I thought I'd list them here.
On a scale of 1-10 I'd give them an 9 overall.
Something...
