It can do out of focus backgrounds/foregrounds (also known as Bokeh) in macro and supermacro mode pretty well. With normal pictures, however, it is very difficult. This is because the actual focal...

The S6000FD is known for its very good performance at higher ISOs in low light so that is definitely a plus for you. When you say no blur, that is not really a quality of the camera but how you use...

I got mine for $250 at B&H around June 15th!!

I may be being naive but can't you just take a picture of grid paper? Unless if you want some form of mathematical scale I suppose.

You can do the RAW and PP stuff if you want to make the 100% best ever image you can. But the S6000 does produce very good results in fine Jpg mode. I haven't shot any RAW yet and have been very very...

I use photomatix basic for my HDRs, rather powerful for a free program. Check it out.

Most likely you will want to shoot in shutter priority. To stop action you want a really fast shutter speed maybe 1/500 or 1/1000. You might have to crank up the ISO if it isin't really bright out....

Wow great lake shot, I really like the moodiness of it.
Just wondering, if people did some serious Post processing can they mention, that way we can separate what was straight-from-camera and what...

Your thinking of setting your white balance to the bird. Metering is judges how much light will hit the sensor. Spot metering means it will meter of of a single spot as opposed to take the average of...

woah!!! At 1/4000th of a second and f11 that should be almost completely black, no matter how sunny it was. Maybe there is something broken with your controls of the shutter/aperture? :(

A thunderstorm came in REALLY quickly but i managed to grab my tripod and do some HDR stuff before the downpour. Some of them were not tripod done so theres a bit of ghosting, and i need to remember...

The new extension of the Air and Space at Dulles is called the Udvar Hazy Center. That is actually a Eastern DC3 hanging from the main part on the mall. Thanks for the comments!

The S60000FD doesn't have IS in the traditional sense (an active system that stabilizes the sensor) but has a "picture stabilization" mode. This basically just jacks up the ISO and the shutter speed...

Buy it from B&H. $250 if you buy it before the 30th of June since they have a $50 rebate which ends on the 30th. Obviously a xD card is necessary (I got a 1GB type H (type H is supposedly faster,...

Dagdu, great shots!! Did you do a lot of post processing or is that straight from the cam? I promise I will start getting some of my own shots in here soon enough!!

How does this camera perform for blurred backgrounds at high apertures (bokeh is it called?)
I actually have bought the camera (thanks for all the advice people sent) but its sitting in my...

Do you guys use a lot of filters? If so what kinds?
Amaaaazing pictures in this thread. P Schneider and many others have a lot of talent. I hope one day I can be as good as you guys! :o
-
Most of the filters seem to Bower (and they do say multi-coated). Does anyone have any experience with Bower filters? I know they aren't Tiffen or Hoya or B+W but chances are poor images will be the...
-
Hey sorry to ask so many questions, but I like to do research.
I found that you can get filters on ebay a LOT cheaper than at B&H (although the camera is 250 at B&H and people spend 375 for it on...
-
Also what do you guys think about filters from the get go? Putting my kit together on B&H I have the camera, a nice bag, 1gb xD card (h-type), and 2 filter kits. The first includes a 0.6 neutral...

Thanks for all the help you guys!!
I am really leaning towards this camera, and if it wasn't for the lack of OIS I would probably buy it right this second. Do you know if Fuji is planning to come...
-
Thanks for all the information!!
The lack of OIS is pretty disappointingly (especially since consumer reports says it has it ) but will the use of a tripod negate most of the camera...
