The A300 is a good camera. I got one for a few years now and works perfect. Photos are very good with the lenses I use.
I think it`s a matter of taste. This one looks more naturel than the b&w

I got a Metz 48AF for my A300. Works perfect and it saved me a lot of money and it fits your budget.

It could be the A100 but I will get that lens for my A300. I use the Minolta 70-210 F4 and for that you also need light so I am used to it.
And I was told by friends that this lens is a bad lens. I think the problem could be with the person behind the camera. Very nice shots Frank.

An easy way to fix this problem is to press Ctrl on your keyboard and at the same time scroll with your mouse wheel. This will zoom in or out the why you want it. Get to point that is the best for...
The image on the LCD is processed to JPG even in RAW so you always have a JPG on your LCD.
You should take a few test shots to see if you have to compensate your histogram on the LCD for RAW images.
