I had an original 70-300 IS, one with the portrait problem and the image quaility in landscape was that good i did not send it back for repair because it was brilliant, built like a toilet roll but...

Or what i wonder?
RayUKs post was clearly in good humour, the next time you climb on your soap box to chastise someone maybe you should wake up a little before you do it.
FYI the entire...

its the batterys you need to worry about not the camera cold weather knocks them out faster than a tyson punch from 20 years ago.

I sold my G6 to get the 12x zoom of the S3, because i normaly use a 20D carrying a camera with a 4x zoom was very limiting, i find the 12x zoom of the S3 makes it very flexible indeed and shots like...
-
I hate the 4:3 my S3 gives so its been cropped to the same ratio as my 20D
-
at one second or less the i dont think the S3 will be using dark field subtraction so hot pixels will show up anyway, you should see my 20D, its plastered with them from new on long exposures.
-
The G7 is about as G series as my arse, the S3 is a better all round camera apart from the hot shoe on first impressions.

I have some S3 IS shots here >>> http://alnath.fotopic.net/c1047434.html

You could just turn your IS on and save a quid :D

Lots and lots of P&S have a mechanical shutter! Feel free to check any Canon for a start, you can even see the camera altering the aperture to suit the light if you look down the lens with the...

The battery level indicator on my 20d still showed full (although it obviously isnt) after taking 1400 shots and filling a 4GB card in 80 minutes at a rugby match, this was also with IS turned on.
-
Beautiful shots but excessive use of a dutch angle for my tastes.
-
noise also always looks worse when the image is viewed full size.
-
My 20D came with a sensor (or the filter if you want to be pedantic) splattered with oil from the shutter, you can tell it is oil as it smears when you try to clean it. I have had to clean the sensor...

I did 22,000 shots in 7 months with my 350D and my 20D has done an obscene 13,000 in 3 months.
-
20D over XT (based on owning both)
faster AF
more accurate AF
brighter viewfinder
larger viewfinder
expected longer shutter life
much much much nicer to hold and to use
better built
ISO3200

Use a reversed 50mm lens (you can get adapers off ebay) this is some sugar taken with a broken 50mm lens costing £2 http://alnath.fotopic.net/p19781865.html

everyone i know that has one says they are working perfect and i far as i know it was only the initial run of the lens that suffered from the problem, hence the delay of a month or 2 where stocks...
