Here are more from the past year or so...
The one of the airplane was taken at Full Zoom while it was flying...With the naked eye you could barely make it out...

Now it's just a case of reversing the steps to put it back together.
What really bothered me about this whole process is that it made me realize just how exposed the LCD is. There is little to no...

Lastly, remove the LCD from the Circuit board by sliding the black connector away from the white connector. The LCD's ribbon cable should slide out from the slot very easily.
-
Next, the LCD/Backlight/Circuit Board sandwich should now come right out of the front trim piece (there will be some wires still attached but it's not a big deal).
Now you'll need to separate the...
-
Third, there are two more screws (one on each side of the LCD/Circuit Board Assy) that secure the LCD/Circuit Board Assy to the front trim (location shown in first picture below). Be careful here as...
-
Second you remove the back cover and that will give you access to the LCD/Backlight/Circuit Board Assy.
Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of the dis-assembly process but I found pictures of...

First...you have to remove the four screws from the ends of the LCD screen assembly. You can see two of them in this view and there are two more on the opposite side. Make sure you have the correct...

Well, I just replaced the LCD in my S3 and I have to say, it was pretty easy. All you need is a very small Philips head screw driver (really small...like something a jeweler would use), a replacement...
-
FYI.....Here's a page from a review that has a chart that graphs noise vs. ISO for the S3 (about half way down). Not sure exactly what the scale on the left represents but it could be just a relative...

My wife and I just got back from a Cruise and here are some of the shots I took.
The 1st and 2nd shots were taken while leaving the harbor in San Juan, PR at Sunset. I was surprised how good they...

Some more photos I took yesterday in the backyard. This camera is so easy to use....I love it.

Let me preface this by saying...I have not tried Continuous mode shooting but I am an engineer by trade and I love analyzing problems like this.
In video mode 640x480@30FPS the camera writes no...

Yes... you are correct. 4GB is the max for SD. I had posted that in another post...but oddly enough I didn't check this time. Thanks for the correction.

> 2MB/s ...It's true... here's the link.

Scroll down to the chart labelled "Time of Recordable...

Largest SD Cards you can get right now are:
2GB SD (various speed ratings - each company calls them something different)
8GB SDHC (Class 2 - min 2MB/s, Class 4 - min 4MB/s, Class 6 - min 6MB/s)...
-
I have an 8GB Class 2 Card. No issues with video or pictures.
Per the Canon web site the S3IS writes at less than 2MB/s in it's highest quality video mode so there's no reason to buy anything...

Hmm.....imagine that. A problem with a Microsoft product. Is it just me or do all MS products seem like Beta versions when they're released.

For what it's worth...
Consumer Reports listed these as their top Photo Finishers:
1) Kodak EasyShare Gallery (kodakgallery.com) $0.15 score:86
2) Shutterfly (shutterfly.com) $0.19 score:84...

Another thing you might want to do is to go to the Library and look for a book called "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. It will shed some light (no pun intended) on how to take better...

The CASIO web site says that High Speed SD Cards are recommended for Video. That tells me that cards like the Sandisk SD Ultra II should work fine. They come is sizes as large as 2GB.
What you...

I was attempting to focus on the Robin but there were too many branches around him. Not bad considering I was about 50 ft away at full zoom.
I like the contrast between his orange chest and the...

One of my backyard visitors....at full zoom (72mm).

I bought a SanDisk MicroMate @ Amazon for $19.99. It just does SD & SDHC. They had a cheaper one under a different brand name too ~$14.99.

Yes...it can keep up. My A-Data card 8GB SDHC Class 2 records videos just fine. I recorded a 2 minute video of the kids with no problems.
I did have to get a new card reader though as my (brand...
