Great color in the dunes with nice contrast in the ripple pattern.

I thought I'd try my hand at tree panning during a November trip to Big Sur. Here's my best one from the day.

The tree panning worked rather well. Nice colors.

I'm not sure it works as an abstract because of the bird, but I certainly like the shot.

Thanks Lukas you are probably right. The bird is definitely not abstract. Strange it was the bird that was the subject of the shot as taken but it's the background that gets the attention in the image. Overall just a happy accident.

Awesome shot, Phill. I think that might be one of your best ones.

Phew thanks raven if only I'd been able to see the shot in my mind first and then execute it rather than just crop off a random failed BiF attempt and run it through "I'm feeling lucky" in Picassa. Which is what I really did :o

Interesting. What is it? I assume that the 'graininess' is actually something in the surface reflecting highlights.

It's ice on the roof of our Volvo. Took it just after photographing the sunrise in the Alabama Hills
