Nice colors, April. Where is that?
Taft, California....it's an oil field town so this is as nice as our sunsets get!
Ah yes. Been by there on our MANY drives on Hwy. 5. (We live in SF and my in-laws live in LA. I think I've made that drive over 50 times in the last 25 years!)
my contribution
#1 is a very pretty shot eddie!
Thank you....
I noticed in your gallery, it appears some shots are from the Washington coast.....am I right?
Eddie.. great shots...the first one is my favorites...love the colors..beautiful!
Heres a few of my feeble attempts at sunsets. Need to move back down to Key West theres much more to practice with down there!! These are on the St. Johns river in Jacksonville, Fl.

One of my GF in Brewster, Ma. last year. Those little P and S cameras do a pretty good job on some things.

Jeez if that is a feeble attemt I'd love to see what you can produce when you put some work into it, nice couple of shots there.
Thanks for the CC! I couldn't level with zoombrowser so I d/l'd Picasa to check it out and found I could level, and I cropped a little more than you suggested...Quote:
I would level it, though, as the buildings are leaning. I might shave a bit off the bottom too - perhaps 1/2 the black below the first white lights...

I've found that I have a lot of trouble getting the correct exposure on a sunset (or sunrise, if I'm actually out and about that early). It gets frustrating...but, here is one of the better shots from the other evening:

I still think there there is a spot that is blown out, but, if I exposed for that, I think everything else would be verrrry dark.
Creating gorgeous sunset photographs is a snap ! Pun intended.
Try this simple trick: face the opposite direction, take a light reading, lock that value in : 125 @ F 5.6 turn around face the sun and create the image.

Special K...hehe yes, however I tend for forget to use it. *stupid stupid stupid* maybe one of these days, the missed shots will add up, and I'll finally remember all the tips/tricks :)
Here are two sunset pictures I took last month. I already posted this on the Nikon board, so some may have seen these already. The first is a HDR, I bracketed three shots and blended them on the computer. I used fill flash on the second.

Wow, Dennis, those are both amazing landscapes! I especially love the second one. All the landscapes I've seen from you are gorgeous. Any landscape tips & tricks for this newbie landscape-lover?
Second one for me too.....
Some from late summer and fall.
Wow, Lukas, you have some amazing shots there. I'm sure you could sell them.
Thank you Tori, maybe some day I will.
Prospero, I really like your second one. Did you use the flash on camera or off camera?
