Hi folks,
Iīve been seeing these guys around Lima, I was out trying out my macro lens, but this guy kept showing up as if to say, "Hi, Iīm here, you can take pictures of me if you want", so I dug out the 200-500. Didnīt use the tripod, and it has no IS, so not super sharp, but Iīm learning :o .

Hi, anybody know if itīs possible to edit posts? I donīt see any way to do it, didnīt sleep much last night, thinking about my dumb post from yesterday.
Anyway, here are a few more of birds that live here in Lima.

Fidlin, to edit your own post, just click the "edit" button that is in the bottom left corner. If you want to change more than the words, click "Go Advanced" in the window that pops up.
I haven't seen any "dumb" posts from you, though. I enjoy seeing your pics. Bird shots are so hard.
Hi Toriaj,
Thanks for the tip, but I donīt see an Edit button anywhere on my screen  .
Also thanks for the kind words, I am totally in the early learning stages of phototgraphy, but I think Iīm learning. Great shots everybody!
Hmm. Look directly under the words in your own post. (Not at the top or bottom of the screen. Inside the large box that holds your text in your post. If you start at the top of your post window, where it says the day you joined, that you live in Lima, Peru, and the number of your posts, just go directly down past your writing to the bottom of the box.) There in the right bottom corner there should be two orange buttons. One says "edit," the other says, "quote." I hope that helps!
New to the forum, thought I'd start with a few pictures. I've been working on bird shots for a month or so. These are a few of my better attempts.

Excellent shots, JC4! I love the detail. Some of them look a little underexposed, but that could be fixed in PP. Welcome to the forum!
Well, fidlin, it seems weird that you'd have a "Quote" button but no "Edit" button. You are looking at your OWN post, not anyone else's, right? Because there is no "Edit" button for someone else's post. And you are logged in when you are looking, right?
If you have those things covered, maybe you could try posting in the "DCRP Site Feedback" thread. You might even get Jeff to answer, if you do. Good luck!
Thanks.
Getting the exposure right has been a learning experience(on going). The background is always different than the birds, and if I use weighted metering the darker birds don't read properly either. I thought I had these adjusted fairly well, which do you think look underexposed?
Also, I have a copy of ColorVision on order, since I think my monitor is off. My monitor is definetly bright, especially compared to my printers. Maybe that's why your seeing them as underexposed, when I thought they were close?
This little guy (gal?) was taking a puddle bath when I heard him fluttering away. I ran for my camera which had a 70-300 on it, and when I got back outside he was sunning himself in the late day sun. He didn't seem to care the least that I was shooting away just feet below him!!! Any feedback is welcome, thnx!
Great shots in this thread...I'm learning so much from this site, it's amazing!
I'm glad you figured it out :) Now show us more shots!

If only I had the DH1758, there would have been another pic. :D
Thatīs what they call these around here. I donīt understand a word these people are saying :( .
These are in back of a Peruvian fish market, where the fisherman come in and sell their fish right there on the beach. The pelicans hang around waiting for peope to feed them - they look healthy to me.

I thought this was one of our regular neighborhood red-tailed hawks, until it got closer and I saw it was a turkey vulture. Flying over the school parking lot.
After lunch, the birds fly into the cafeteria to feast on what the students leave behind
holy crap ! a TURKEY VULTURE  flying over your carpark ? you got some pretty exotic birdlife over there mate. :)
The campus of the high school I work at borders a small section of national park (the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.) So, we get all kinds of wild life: hawks, ravens, lots of other birds, red fox, coyotes, deer, etc. I was in the parking lot just after lunch, hoping to get some shots of a hawk. This is the first time I've ever seen one of these buggers, though. Amazing the amount and variety of wild life less than 10 miles from a major city!
(wave) long time lurker.
Took these a couple weeks ago at REGI (Raptor Education Group Inc.) a private, non-profit bird-of-prey rehabilitation center in Northern Wisconsin. Canon Rebel XTi + Canon 70-200 f/4L IS, all images at 200mm.

1.What kind of bird it is...? :)
2.These are birds too,right?:) :D
Saw these two 'playing' around out back yesterday. Didn't have a TC on my 70-200, so they're cropped pretty bad, but I thought still worth sharing.

Iīve been told these are Peruvian vultures.

An even more common sea bird.

Caught this one mid-squawk
Originally I adjusted the contrast on this and cropped out the cigarette butts. But then it just looked boring, so I left it untouched. All it needs is a black hat and a trenchcoat. :p
Regards,
Bill
These are not exotic birds, but they are in their natural habitat.
