Bird Thread

I guess I'm a little behind the times, but I really liked Rooz's seagull crop. I was recently looking around photo galleries on the internet and became so tired of "rule of thirds" shots that I have now decided they show poor imagination. So, this seagull was definitely something I wanted to see.

Like that last one Geoff. Where are you shooting these you seam to be inside the enclosure?

The last one was in an outdoor enclosure, unlike the one that had the red tinge over it's head!

Horrid grey day - manual WB setting of 5300K seemed to produce natural results - I should really tweak this shot, though it would be less true to how it was - maybe later sometime...
I should maybe also apply som USM?....

Wow what a composition if that's uncropped!

It looks far from sharp to me though, what lens were you using? So yeah I'd hit it with some USM but that's just my opinion looking at a small version.

Hand held - poor light, High ISO slowish shutter and yes - not a crop
All adds up to limited sharpness - on top of that the Bird (on my mates arm)
was swiveling it's head back and forth rapidly - so I had to grab the moment.
So
Considering all those factors - I was quite pleased on the whole - not the best
photo of the day - but a good representation of what it was like with one of these
very close on the end of your arm.

Wow you had a bit to contend with. You composed it so well who cares about sharpness anyway. Are you going to pit it on the wall?

I might put one or two on the wall - or a collage from the day might serve better.
I am terrible at getting around to framing and hanging photos.. it goes something like this:
'Let's put some photos on the wall - ah.. we haven't got any frames.'
next time we are out shopping - 'let's buy a frame or two. Hmm - don't know what to buy - what photo are we going to put in it? Don't know - let's leave it for now.':rolleyes:
My inclination is to buy a selection of different frames then when I feel like printing a photo or two I have a some frames to choose from.
So I think I need to bite the bullit and purchase some frames!! :D
