Oh, my. I recall his last postings asking about how far away to be to get the two heads in the frame at the presidential election with some Olympus lens (probably fixed variable "aperure", no doubt)...Like you can' t just shoot down the street at a stop sign and figure it out?

I actually said "bye, bye" over a year ago, but bye, bye - again.

Even though I have not been active in the forums for a long time, I have still read your reviews now and then. I'll miss your reviews on this site. I have found them very interesting and informative. So I'd like to thank you very much for all these years I've visited your site and wish you the best of luck with your new job and place in cyberspace! :)

Wesan, since Jeff has agreed to continue the forums (and these are the best) why not stay with the DCRP and exchange ideas and images with your peers.

Jeff will be posting reviews in the future on DPReview, but has been kind enough to continue the forums.

I like the way you place all the different ISO shots in sequence next to each other. Very often that's where I go first - see how clean the image is - before reading other parts of your review. I only check out Dpreview reviews if I feel like reading more finer details about the camera. When you do the review for Dpreview, please use your format, if you can. Saying this, I will still read your future reviews at Dpreview. I don't think I will be active in that forum.

Yup, it was the same here. starting with my (now retired) 30D Jeff's fine reviews influenced pretty much every camara purchase I made (or recommended) in the last years. Hopefully the people at dpreview will allow him to retain his excellent review style (which made his reviews pretty much superior to anything else out there).

Pity to lose this forum. Things here are set up in an intelligent, thoughtful, manner. The pages render in black on white, for example. That's how things should be. The posts here are organized well and thoughtfully. The asinine cascading post organization over at DPReview is stupid, cumbersome, and unworkable.

Why does it always seem to be that, as time moves on, things become worse? We throw out the good and retain the bad. Go figure.

We won't exactly lose this forum completely. Jeff has said he will keep some sections open so members who still want to hang around can continue to do so. I will certainly be one of them.

Wow. What can I say? Even knowing that some forums will remain I think few would argue that this is indeed the end of DCRP as we know it.

I haven't really been active here for a few years but that didn't have anything to do with DCRP. It came with a decision to be more involved with the real than the virtual one. I had hoped to find the forum revitalized and I have to say that while not totally surprised I am very disappointed.

I turned to DCRP with my decision to go digital in 2004. I was amazed at how friendly and helpful people here were. I actually have more posts here than all other forums combined. There were definity a few characters over the years and I still recall the one thread that rocked the DCRP world that is still my all-time #1 crazy thread; Razr's fast aperture fiasco. I still have no idea what planet that guy is from. Of course there were tons of other people that made this place interesting too. Coldrain, wherever you are, this place was much less interesting without you and no matter what your approach you always knew your stuff and you made it interesting. You were missed.

I made a few friends here and actually met a couple of individuals in person to share some photography. Like others have said it has also been a pleasure to see other people develop their talents. I remember when Faisal first posted here. I seem to recall him being worried about family support when it came to dumping money and time into photography but look at the guy shoot now! A worthy investment for sure.

Thank you Jeff. Good luck to you. I'll never forget the interesting little corner of the Internet that you allowed us to have that was so invaluable in helping me cut my digital teeth.
