Taken strategically through the edge of a cloud for a few extra stops of light reduction.
I've just realized I've got more ND's I can throw into it, out to try again. PS use live view and tape over your viewfinder (to remove all temptation) if you want to try.
Wow! My 2x TC just arrived too. Definitely going to have another shot.
You'll notice the presence of some "dust spots" in this batch that I cloned out in the first shot. I've since determined that these are actually "sun spots".
Here is the sun through my brand new 2x-TC. Surprisingly, being shot through a zoom lens, 2x converter, and three filters at f/44...
...does not make the sun look better than being shot through a zoom lens, two filters, and a cloud bank at f/22.
This would have been a cool shot if I had angled up enough to get the planet, but with all the filters and clouds I didn't even realize the sun was near the frame.
Then the stupid clouds left and went to the stupid mountains, so I had to resort to the 3rd filter and f/44 for the teleconverter pictures.
So I ended up taking pictures of the stupid road.
Great shots Raven you did well getting these. I'm afraid I didn't boher getting up as it was suposed to be raining here.
Don't get too addicted to the extra reach of the 2x on those sunny days.
That was probably the last time I think f/7 at 400mm was too fast. Or f/22 for that matter.
