St Patrick's Cathedral

Here is the before and after of an image I took of St Patrick's Cathedral. I tried to remove the stop light and signs.

Crimony ... that streetlight looks like something out of H.G. Wells War of the Worlds.

Nice removal, Frank ... and you might suggest that the city do something a little more complimentary to that Gothic structure, in that local vicinity.

I mean, imagine, with all the high-falutin' talent in New York (cause that's where they claim it's all going), to see something like this is almost an affront to good cosmopolitan design.

Sorry, attending an Art School is providing me with some kind of lurid sensitivity to these sort of things. Who knew? :rolleyes:

there should be a law against those being in front of photographable things..:p

Doesn't look like much has changed since the last time I was there two years ago. Although, I thought the modern part was due to restoration work on the church and figured it would have been gone by now.

It is hard to get a good shot of anything in the city. If it isn't the wires, lights or signs it is the people and the traffic.

I think you made a good job removing the lights although I am not sure I like the sky.

I didn't like the blown out sky. I thought it fit the image.

Frank, the sky was going to blow whatever you did.
You should have made sure it was totally blown because the image is horrendously underexposed and needed at least +2 stops compensation.

next time take 2 shots from slightly dif angles..enough that the light is in dif places so you can steal parts to fill behind the light in the other shot
