Spent some hours shooting with the 70-200 VRII today.. It's just as sick as the canon. Excellent lens. If anyone is thinking about it: stop wasting your time and get it. It's worth every penny.
got some new toys and got rid of some old ones, the d7000 is night and day from a d80 the autofocus system alone is worth the upgrade! cant get to my computer at the moment due to some renovations going on at my house :)
the 16-85 seems the goods so far too that extra width comes in handy for sure.
started a new job so havent been online much hopefully can be online a bit more going forward.
oh and thanks to DPR for twisting my arm and going for the d7000 and not the d5100 i went and held on at the shop and i hated the difference of buttons/layout
Congrats mate. That d7k is awesome.
The af is amazing it always grabs the eye and when I spot meter eyes are coming out the way I like so glad I did this anyone that says d7000 isn't worth the upgrade from d80 is mad :) plus the amount of focus points is a bonus
Of another big one is iso performance I accidentally had it on 1000 and the results were quite good probably comparable to iso400 on the d80 (mine at least)
Lastly the dynamic range is considerably improved less blown highlights is a big bonus
So far that's what I've noticed and I can't say I've got any negatives as of yet :)
Basically all of the things that bothered me about the d80 have been addressed so happy days!!
I want one more lens for now I am tossing up between the 70-300 or do I fork out the extra and grab the 80-200 f2.8 I know it's not afs and it's not a 70-200 but it's as much as i will be spending on a lens for a long time... What you guys think?
I just tried to find used ones I can't find 1!!
There is one used one on eBay for 2200 the guy is a dreamer I think :)
Let me know if anyone sees one :) I even looked at bh used.
