So, how is it working out? Are you very glad you "accidentally" (well you did list it, some part of you wanted to sell it) sold the a300?
I was thinking I was going to get an A700 next, now I'm just not sure. I'm thinking I should opt for better glass.
How is the shutter/mirror slap noise of the A700 compared to the A300's?
The only benefits I see right now are, one or two stops of ISO improvement, MLU, 3 to 5fps (not too useful for me)
love it so far. not sure about the mirror slap. i think it may be louder.
the raw files on the a700 are softer than from the a300 because of the sensor NR. the high ISO NR off only turns the NR off in the Bionz side. whereas the NR on the a300 only occurs on the Bionz side.
better glass is next :-)
btw i have an a300 grip for sale if you are looking for one. i never listed it with the a300 cause i wasn't serious in selling.
Hmm maybe louder? good to know. Next time I'm around the sony store, I'll play with it again. From my time at a closing circuit city, it seemed like it was similar but more electronic sounding (higher pitched, and slightly less noticeable).
If I got an A700, I'd get the VGC70AM grip. If not, then I may be interested in that grip, but that would mean delaying better glass. I can handle the vertical shooting for now, although it does have some serious "cool factor" to it.
But if you want to sell it now, by all means, go ahead. Please don't wait for me :p since I have no made up my mind right now. Don't have enough for the lens I want. Have enough for an A700, but the whole economic situation right now has my better half telling me to hold off a few months.
if you want to save some money, check Aden Camera or Downtown Camera. they should ship to US and you could save about $100 on an a700 body.
the grip made the a300 look mean. i rarely used the strap when i used the grip cause there was much more to hold on to. and i believe it also eliminated some hand shake as well.
i'm looking for $200 shipped for it. still have the box and all.
This doesn't belong here but didn't want to start a new thread, you guys see this up in the hot deals forum? See Don the kit lens gets 4 out of 5 stars in EVERY REVIEW the op has read, LOL well thats not exactly what he's saying.
I want to be up front. This is a credit card offer from Sony. But it is a fantastic deal. This is a pretty good Sony Card offer. Get a new Sony Card and you qualify to get the DSLR-A200K digital camera kit for $217. It's MSRP is $499! That's $289 off of list price or a 57% savings. The Kit includes the DT 18-70mm f3.5-5.6 Standard Zoom Lens. Every user review I've read on this camera + kit gives it 4 - 5 stars (out of 5).
This would be a grand way to get the younger kids involved without laying out a ton of cash. Then, when the lil' shaver is ready for the big gun, you hand him your fine 24-70mm f/2.8 lens and ask, "I want you to tell me what the difference is of this lens ... to yours"
Out of the mouth of babes ... eh? You probably will have a real struggle getting your lens back. :D Once you show them the good stuff ... can't keep 'em on the farm after that.
