Thank you, Gintaras. Aquaduct is taken with a Leica film camera and the one of the Sydney Opera House using the Leica Digilux 2. For my Canon 20D, I have a 17-55 2.8, but tend to leave it at home in favor of the much smaller sized 50 1.8. I find that longer lenses just cause me to leave the camera home more often. (I wonder how the new USD200 18-55 kit lens performs. Seems to be garnering good reviews.) As for the night shots, I find that my favorites, such as this shot taken in Singapore, still come from film rather than digital. Hopefully my skill will improve and I'll be able to better use a digital camera at night.

I'm a budding amateur, and have recently purchased an XTi. Hope to learn from you folks and get better at my art. Here's my first post to this forum.

Would really appreciate feedback and criticisms on this shot of my 7 month old in the bath. Don't have any PS skills yet, only cropping. :p

There is nothing to criticize about the shot really. It's nicely exposed and the crop is pretty good. Don't worry too much about candid shots like these. Just have fun with them.

Beautiful capture and your baby has a very cute smile:)

The exposure is right and i like the crop too... however i felt the image could use a little more contrast and some USM..

Heres the result.. please tell me if you don't like it and I'll take it down..

Yes very cute kid!

USM is unsharm mask filter in Photoshop... its used to sharpen the pic.


Thanks Michael, and lovely fall photo you have there...I would like to add a little more color saturation to it though.

I think a scene like this would look very nice in an HDR photo.

Mike, lovely image of the fall, i love its foggy background and colors are so natural, IMO no need for boosting saturation.
