A couple of fungi photos - I think I have improved a bit taking photos of fungi:
I prefer the subtle colors in the very beige one. I think that the B&W could use a bit of contrast to push the blacks a bit darker. Also, not a big fan of the out of focus one filling the middle of the frame. All those leading lines in the gills plus the curve of the cap on the in focus one to the immediate left of it draw the eye to the softness.
Some interesting comments kgosden. I did try increasing the blacks on the grey one but I thought it was to dark; personaly I like the out of focus effect but my eye is drawn to the in focus one. This is a better perspective than the ones I took last year from the side and above; I like the first one as well - there is a bit of chaos with the fungi pushing against each other and I like the the sharpness of the gills.
Lets see if I can kick start this topic....
Portikus is an exhibition hall for contemporary art in Frankfurt am Main originally founded in 1987 that relocated to a tiny island on river Main right off Alte Brücke (Old Bridge). It’s an curious looking building thanks to the red exterior paint that stands out beautifully among the surrounding trees.
Faisal, good to see you still around. Nice graphic shot. The siding pattern is creating moire all over my screen. Notice any in your source?

i just logged on the site after long no visit and read with a sad heart that Jeff just closed this site, was such a great place for meeting people and chatting.
if anyone knows where most of old community chaps moved to?
"old no see but still online" Gintaras :)
There are still about a dozen of us posting and reading on a semi-regular basis. Not sure, but I guess most folks at least monitor the dpreview forums where Jeff is now a reviewer. Those boards seem a bit less close knit and certainly get into bigger flame wars than ever took place here.
