Canon DSLR "Picture of the day"

one more try with cropped version, colors warmed up intentionally in this version. sure I will need to learn positioning GND and blending two filters vertical and horizontal to achieve desired effect. and I also may need to stay my wife at home because when we are together I always feel guilty about spending more time with the camera and sometimes she gets pissed off with that :-(

I think I like that more...^^^^

I know about blending layers and have done so myself. Immense amount of time needs to be given to the image and takes a lot practice to master. I still can't do it right. I'm thinking of ordering GND from the US (friends coming over to Dubai), any specific brand you'd recommend???

Faisal, I picked the cheapest but least quality Cokin, many do not like Cokin but I decided to spend little and see what I need before opting for more expensive brand. I paid for 4 filters plus adapter ring the same amount I would be needed to pay for just single Lee filter.

best rated but also expensive are Singh-Ray, Hi-Tech and Lee all ranked in order of appearence. you must also decide if you need a filter holder for your lens or if you hold filters with hand in front of the lens. many prefer to skip the holder because they say holding by hand is more easy and you can quickly re-adjust the positioning.

Why would I need a filter holder...don't they screw onto the lens...???

I'm thinking of not buying the most expensive ones but not the cheapest ones either, something in the middle cause this might be the only chance I might have to get a GND as they are not available locally....and shipping costs $60 from the US!!!!

Faisal, check professional filters to see why you may need a filter holder and an adapter. but many pros just hold them with fingers in front of the lens.

and by NO definition good filters are cheap, same as good glass is never cheap, even second hand.

but, the US prices on such things are normally cheaper than in other countries, in Europe we are often asked to pay 20-50% more the same things would be sold for in the US... pray tell why?
