Here's an oldie from a holiday in the Flinders Ranges (outback South Australia), no idea what the raptor is but it was bloody hard to get a photo of.
That's great shot DPRoberts.
I have taken many sorts of shot but can never take a bird in flight like that while retaining good focus and sharpness. Any tips?
Here's another recent shot from an engagement shoot. I quite like this image, not sure why.
Probably because it's not another car shot :D

I'm with you Anco, I really like that shot. I think what would have made it perfect is if his hands hadn't been in his pockets, but otherwise its great.
Tim it was my 70-300VR at 300, it's uncropped and blurry as at full size but looks ok sharpened and downsized to 800 pixels wide.
Spot metering from memory, spot autofocus, ISO 400 probably, VR off probably. Early or late in day if possible. Tried to pan but really at 300mm I shake like a shower of sh.t so it may not have made any difference.
I masked the bird in PS and increased the contrast on the bird as it was pretty flat.
I like it Anco as it looks very natural. I like the hands in the pockets too and esp the interesting but not distracting wall.
Zoo Meercat on sentry
DPR;
Who's he grinning at? Or is he thinking of a secret?
Cute shot.
DPR told him he was going to be a star on DCResource.
The meerkats can bark like tiny puppies.
Shot from drive today... a little BW action...
