Nikon DSLR "Picture Of The Day"

It's been a while since my last post. The last couple of months I didn't have enough time to post here. I did a lot of traveling (visiting 10 countries since my last post) and there was my Bachelor graduation project at Aerospace Engineering, which meant two months of really hard work. It was a lot of fun, though. In a group I had to design a camera that fits in a Nanosatellite (A satellite the size of a milk carton) and that has a 400 mm to take high resolution images of the earth. As a photographer, it was really interesting to learn a lot more about optics and sensors, and I had the opportunity to work with some professional lens design programs (Code V), which was really interesting.

Anyway, now I'm back. I have taken more than 3000 pictures in the last months, so expect a lot of new pictures here :). Here's a picture from Paris, it's the Notre Dame during sunrise (I arrived in Paris early in the morning). I blended two images in Photoshop to get this result:

One of many pictures I shot of this Red Admiral butterfly, following it around the local vetch patch last Sat. Shot with the New 70-300.
Even though it is not a Macro lens, it still has remarkable close-up capability on larger insects. Decent image size at 59".

Nice Red Admiral Falconest. I do not remember the blues on the last ones I saw being as prominent and clear.

Here's one from the Whistler Village. This is the Olympic Circle, the spot where medals were awarded during the 2010 Winter Olympics held in Vancouver.

Oh, you mean it was your father sitting on the mountain? He seem'd to be reading a newspaper and I was like that is an epic way to read a newspaper. :D
Take your family on a boat ride, and don't forget to take your camera on the boat.. I remember there were so many off-shore windmills and it looked pretty amazing.

Great stuff all and really nice to see a few old names back.

What a way to come back. Beautiful mate. Brought back alot of good memories.

Thanks for all your suggestions folks for my colour or BW version. Looks like there is no clear winner.

Falconest: that's a superb shot. I have never seen a butteryfly in close action before.
