Thanks mate, it's a spot I was at with kids and thought was promising enough to revisit. It meant a 200km drive on a day I didn't have the kids so I could shoot at a better time of day without rushing. This is about 1 hr before sunset with a polariser.
Every time i try and get close to a Dragon Fly, they fly a mile away!
I'm actually fortunate I spotted this one near the walkway so I didn't have to lean in too much to get closer to it. I spent nearly 5 mins trying to get the sharpest shot possible of its face, and from the 15+ frames, this is the only one that came out the sharpest.
It was the most patient dragonfly I've ever shot up close. Unfortunately, I tried getting a different angle and I leaned my elbow on one of the railings. As soon as my elbow landed for a firm support, it created a vibration that set the dragonfly flying away LoL :o
