View Full Version : Hummingbirds
Hi,
I'd like to ask the ones, who love to photograph hummingbirds post here the pictures of them in flight, but not next to a plant, or to a feeder or to a nest. I tried few pictures like this and it was hard job, but it is very interesting to see what are they doing, when they fight or follow each other, or when they dive down and so on. Here are my tries.
Here are birds and flowers, so I was not sure where to put them to birds or to flowers and decided to statrt new post, because hummingbirds are special.

You were right to start your own thread. That's truely an incredible one-in-a-million shot. You should be proud. That's just outstanding.

Thats interesting because at my parents house there is one bully hummingbird and two other sly hummingbirds in cahoots. One will attempt to drink from their feeder causing the bully to fly in and chase it away, while this is going on the other hummingbird watching from a limb flys down and drinks away... and it goes on day after day... Its hilarious... but the two never seem to bother the bully when he is drinking, I suppose they are considerate... LOL

Hi Sod,
Great shots of a very difficult subject. It takes a lot of patience.
I thought I might add one taken with my old Canon Powershot Pro 90. The hummingbird and the hornet are in quite a battle over this sugar water.
I hope to be getting some hummingbird shots with my new powershot S2. I have seen some around both my shrimp plants and my maple flower. Now I just have to sneak up on them or lay in wait, whatever works.

Thank you, Aparmley.
Can you, please, take a picture of that chase?
