You know I am satisfied but here are a couple photos
Any defects are more operator error than the problem of the lens.
They are handheld.
18X plus Tcon17 and 14B untouched

Same photo sharpened

It takes some pretty good light and some luck.
If you notice the antelope pictures are ISO200 in order to keep a reasonable shutter speed.
And I take several different shots in burst mode.
The ones with the antelope, I have 42 pictures on the hard drive of those shots with 7 of them being pretty good.
I do not mind taking lots of photos and sorting them out later.
I am working on that now.
We were on vacation for 6 weeks and my wife and I took more than a thousand photos on quite a few days. (His and hers FZ cameras)
Altogether we brought home over 60 gbs of pictures....I will be working on them till next vacation.
This is about the only chance I ever had to photo a wild badger and I had the Raynox2020 on and did not get a good photo.
While I went to get the tripod my wife took this photo with a FZ10 at 36 X
She got 8 pretty good photos before the badger disappeared.. and I got none

60 gbs!!!! how did you store them???
Laptop/CDR's?
I run out of cards in one day. IE 3 gbs
I have now decided not to keep everything I take.
I'm always amazed at the pictures you take!
Thanks
Stan
PS I am almost finished with the design of a timer for my FZ20
IN winter I have more time for this stuff.

I have a Vosonic X drive with a 30 gb Hard drive and A laptop with about 20 free gbs.
I copy my cards to both of them ( so I have 2 copies) and when the laptop is near full I then move both of them to an external hard drive.
When I get home I burn one copy of them ( from the external drive) to DVDs (15 of them.)
and then I start sorting out the photos on the external hard drive and trashing the duplicates and poor quality photos.
I am paranoid over losing a really nice photo.

Few hundred now!
Now into on the road storage yet. Is burning two DVDs have the same security as hard drive and DVD backup. I am very paranoid now! In the beginning when i did 'lose' some pictures from South America. Was lucky to retrieve all of them. Lot of work then.
Can you check the images on the laptop? There are many formats for DVDs and not knowledgeable in predicting which format will win out. Need to get off my duff and do something.
Have negatives from 60 years ago and I still can scan and print pictures now.
I had pictures on 8 inch disc's then 5 1/4 ,skipped 3 1/2, then super disk and now CDRs and maybe[?] DVDs.
Thanks

I use both CDs and DVDs but for backing up a large amount I do not think you can beat DVD.
I am sure a hard drive is more likely to fail than a good DVD.
As far as the format it is pretty much settled as drives now burn and read all formats.
They even can do double layer although I do not have a drive that does double layer but I am sure the next one I get will.
In fact if the price of the double media drops some more I will most likely get one.
They are about 3 bucks a disk now but I remember when the one sided DVD was that price and look at them now. About 20 cents.
Here is a link to one that does it all

Hi genece,
the vosonic drives are excellent.
I have lost some pictures, which were destroyed by an old card reader.
From now on I store my cards on a vosonic VP3320 80GB card reader - MP3..
This device verifies your data and you can restore single files back to the card. It uses standard Fuji accus and standard laptop harddiscs.
Both are replaceable!
Sometimes I restore the last picture on the manufacturers card.
This is a workaround, you cannot view pictures on this cheap device.
I store several releases of the cards (CF and sd).
There are 2 copies at each time of the process:
holiday: SD Card - several releases on the vosonic
home: vosonic and PC
storage: PC and dvd(s)
I will never again loose a single picture!

I will never again loose a single picture!
That is my hope also.
If I get a new laptop I will get a DVD burner in it. The laptop I have now is too slow for that.

Hello Stan,
you never mentioned the olympus C-180.
This cheap lightweight part is my new companion.
There is vignetting in the corners, but you can allways have it in your pocket.
The attached picture (published in steves forum) was done with a sigma achromat (in between), C-180, FZ5 no tripod.
Distance of 1,3 meters and water in between.
This was my only chance and I think the C-180 did a good job!
(hope there is an attachment, this forum somehow different)

I had a C 210 but I sold it after I bought a the TCON 17 and -14B
I can stack the set on the FZ20. Taking a trip soon so I will have a change to try the stack out.
Can a remote shutter release be use on the Z5? I get questions on that.
Thanks

Hi Stan,
there is no remote shutter!
And even worse there is no external flash, but I will cover this darn thing and use a remote followup flash. Until that the flash is covered by a bouncing device for macro purposes.
Are the attachments killed in this forum?

click on user CP and then edit options and turn off all pictures, avatars and signatures.
I have a C180 and while that photo you posted is really nice ,the C180 is not worth much more than the 12 bucks I paid for mine.
It has found a home in the junk drawer.

Hi genece,
my junk drawer is full with my old devices.
Nikon FM-2, Tamron, Pentax Spotmatic, Pentacon, Agfa Box, .....
So I have to stay for a while with the C-180.

Use a slave flash or a regular flash with a slave trigger.

If you set theoption to NOT SHOW IMAGES
How can I discuss photography without seeing pictures.
All the post I look at have the images, attachments, showing.
You are right: No pictures: Hard to discuss!
In your options turn on show attachments.
I edited this statement to show sequence!
click USER CP>Under CONTROL PANEL> click EDIT OPTIONS>Under THREAD DISPLAY OPTIONS> check box SHOW IMAGES.
In fact is is best to set ALL options to what you desire!

Will search for a slave flash.
Until I have got one, I use a diffusor for the inbuilt FZ5 flash for my macros.
My options are fixed!
Thanks

Hi: You actually have two options: 1- as you said a slave flash; and 2 any flash, do not need ttl, with a separate flash trigger . Goes for some 6$

I am going to stick out my neck and guess that genece used the Unsharp Mask in CS to do part f the job. My question of Gene is does the settings of the Unsharp Mask turn up in the EXIF[?] file?
Thanks
