As I was looking back on many of my photos I saw that I take quite a few in the 28mm range, not many below that. My concern is whether the Canon 28-105 3.5-4.5 is decent at 28mm? If so I will be buying it later today.
Thank you for your comments!

For travel photography I found that my Sigma 18-125mm DC got used way more than my Tamron 28-75 XR Di. The focal range from 18-35 gets the most use usually.

If you are asking about lens sharpness at various apetures, in my experience the lens is a little soft wide open apeture-wise at all focal lengths, but not unacceptably so. At 28mm you'll definitely get sharp shots by f4.5-f5. And you may be happy at f3.5. At the long end of the zoom, I shoot at f5-5.6 if there's enough light and get really nice shots. (Rebel XT) I really love this lens (price, sharpness, size-weight) but I am going to try out the Canon 28-135 IS this week as I shot a bunch of lowlight shots last weekend (outdoors and indoors in the early evening in natural light) and found I was at 1/10th-1/50th shutter a lot at f5 (ISO 200-800) which was often too slow for a steady handheld shot.
