Between the two - Sigma 18-125 or the Canon 28-105 3.5-4.5 does anyone have any thoughts? Leaving for vacation soon and want something other that the 18-55 for my XT.

Thanks for your help

Don't rush into buying anything. I'm looking for something else too. It's been suggested that a 28-75 Tamron is my ideal solution for the mid-range and something like a 70-210 for longer range.

The Sigma did fine for me on my trip out West. Your welcome to view my PBase galleries of Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Click on the link in my sig below.

I've owned both and currently only have the Canon. Better lens in my opinion.

You might want to step further outside the box and look at the Sigma 18-200 as a good general purpose, day-to-day, walk around, lens (~$400). The 28-105 has no wide angle capability and (from personal experience with 28mm) will get frustrating the first time you want to shoot interiors or other wide shots. If an extra $120 cost is a factor then the Sigma 18-125 is a great alternative choice (~$270).

I'm selling my Canon 28-105 3.5-4.5. Not because it's a bad lens (it's actually my favorite) but I got the Canon 28-135 because I needed the IS for low light shooting. So if anyone is looking to purchase this lens, PM me for details. The lens is only three months old. (I'm also throwing in the Canon lens hood which must be purchased separately.)
