Hello All,

I am novice in the DSLR field.
I ned some info regarding two lenses.
1. (70/135) to 400mm lens (upto 400mm I want)
2. 18 to (50/70/80) lens (I want to start at wide angle 18mm).

I want to buy these lenses. I can't buy a high end lens; Please suggest me some place in Europe where I can buy these lenses. First of all I want to know available lenses in these ranges.

With Regards,
vprasad

Do you want 400mm equivalent, or an actual 400 (600mm equivalent)?

The 70-300 f/4-5.6D or G are fairly inexpensive lenses that will give you a 105-450 equivalent on a Nikon DSLR. Quality is not the greatest, but they can be had at a fraction of the cost (~199.99cdn) of a lens like the 80-400VR (~1999.99cdn).

As for where to get them in Europe, I wouldn't exactly know. Google is your friend? :)

Dear Warin,

Thanks a lot for your message.
I want actual 400 on Digital (i.e., it goes up to 600mm).

Also, I want the 18mm lens. The one I have now is 28mm but it is equivalent to 35mm I suppose.
Can you please suggest me some lower range lesnses, i.e., part numbers, so that I can search in the web/place an order.

With regards

The Nikon 18-70mm DX is the one to go with on the Digital SLR. It is a AF-s lens and is better lens than the 18-55mm. I have a Nikon 24-120mm VR AF-S and it also is a very well made lens. The 18-70 looks and feels very much like the VR lens. Just wish I could us it on my N80 also. The 18-70 would be a 27mm wide angle x 105mm zoom. My 24-120 VR is a 34-180 on my D70s so is not a very good wide angle lens on the D70.

N80, D70s :)

Sigma 135-400mm 4.5-5.6 - I have this lens and like it a lot, it has a massive range on digital (around 200-600mm) and it does perform well (esp down 1 stop). It is rather heavy but solid and well built.

Example from 400mm f6.7 handheld... (You really need a tripod at 600mm equiv.)

Tokina 80-400 4.5-5.6 - This is the only other option I know of that isn't going to cost you a fortune.
