I recently subscribed to shutterbug and they list several pages from b and h video in new york who have a used collection of cameras/lens etc. Anyone ever used these? Would appreciate feedback. Thanks.

I used B & H photo to purchase my Rebel XT and 50mm 1.8 lens... a wonderful transaction... I have not used their used gear shop so I can not tell you if their grade scale is as accurate as posted. I would buy from them again... and most like will end up getting my fast wide zoom lens from them... It is supposed to be good to support your local camera shop but if I wanted to buy the Tamron 28-75 F2.8 XR Di from them it would cost me 510 bucks after taxes, up front, they need to special order it. So I pay 510 up front, wait two weeks... then I get the lens... online I pay 380 up front wait three days and I get the lens... How can you support your local camera shop under those circumstances...
B & H is good...

Thanks. It's a very reputable store...and they have a very well regarded image to maintain...I have seen some of their used stuff, but never bought any. All appeared to be in top shape...
But I would never buy used stuff online (hey, I never buy new stuff online either!) I'd want to see it with my own eyes before I laid out the cash...but that's just me...

Many from the fredm photo forum (lots of pros) mention them as where they originally purchased it - as if its the site of choice.
I've made 3 purchases from them in the past 30 days, all very smooth. No slick sales techniques.
Note: I got a Mack warranty from them for 1/2 the price of most other sites. I called Mack to confirm that its the correct one and they said "Oh, BH is one of our biggest volume customers, very very reputable. We don't restrict our end-prices so its very reasonable that they can offer it for that"
So, BH is passing the savings on to the customer. We're talking $79 for 3 year warranty extension for my $1450 purchase, instead of between $149 and $179 at several other sites FOR THE SAME THING!
I called them and they were fast, polite, and informative. Also; my product arrived promptly - no delay for bogus credit card issues ....
As you might gather, they're getting all my future business provided they have it in stock (they were out of stock on my lense of choice until October). Even there - they didn't try stringing me along or selling me something else.
I've decided to return the semi-hard leather camera case I got so we'll see how they are on returns, but I would be very very surprised if they don't simply take it back without a hitch.
One other thing - many of the on-line places I've noticed have a great starting price, say for a lense, then try selling some sub-standard add-on for 50 to 300 % higher price than it's worth. For example; some New Jersey outfit had a better price on a lense (marginally better) but they wanted $60 for a General Brand filter. Where BH sold the same sized filter of B & W Brand (supposed to be top quality) for $25. When I called that NJ outfit, they said "oh, that filter's on sale now" and quoted $15.
So; tough to find an honerable online place but good to keep them once found. I believe their management understands that too.

I just ordered a digital camera and accessories within the past hour. I've spent some time on the phone with the sales associates over the past week looking for help and found everything to be a very smooth transaction, additionally, no attempt was made to "upsell" me and their shipping costs are much more reasonable than other places.
I purchased a camera from them at the store about 2 years ago and was very satisfied with the transaction.
Support the local camera store... well the local one by me cost too much, so i'll support them, but not for the additional $$$.
I would buy from B&H again in a heartbeat.

Just a further to my points about B&H earlier. I placed my order on Friday afternoon, and received my shipment yesterday (monday). shipping was dirt cheap compared to other places and the product arrived quickly and in great order.
I wouldnt think twice about buying from them again.
