PSE3 has taken over - Help!

I'm running a PC with XP operating system and recently installed PS Elements 3. One annoying thing is that now it takes over when I want to open any image file. In the past I could use Windows Picture Manager for a quik and easy open of an email attached image file, but no more. Now E3 butts in, overrides Picture Manager, and opens the image files after waiting for all of its components to load first.

I tried to change this by resetting preferences, but couldn't find what I needed to change this behavior. Did I miss something in Preferences, or is there another easy workaround? Thanks for any help.

I am at a Windows 2000 computer, but XP is similar.

Open a folder and under "tools", select "folder options" and then "file types". Find the type of file you want to open, and change the "opens with" to the program you want to use.

When you installed PSE 3, you changed this setting by probably selecting all file types when the installer asked you what file types you want associated with PSE 3.
